This horse is bred to perform, be that in cutting, reining, working cow horse, team penning, roping, trail, western pleasure, barrels or just plain ranch work. He is the fastest horse in the world, and one of the fastest animals.

He is suppose to be able to run the barrels but also stop and spin. Made for racing action they are not usually good for just riding around. Barrel horses are usually 7 years old or under.

Tremendously strong and usually Quarter Horses, bred for athletic ability, agility, quickness and speed at short distances. Some of the most athletic horses there are these creatures truly work hard for their glory. Highly trained these horses need to really focus on the task at hand for success and barrel horses are only used in barrel racing, an event of speed and precision.

When riding a horse for the first time you should be with an experienced rider. When you are going to approach an animal, ask someone who knows the animal to approach it with you. When trotting he springs from one diagonal pair of legs to the other. He moves his legs in diagonal pairs when he trots.
